Currently, electrohydraulic braking (EHB) has become a mainstream technology. Based on traditional hydraulic braking systems, it replaces some mechanical components with electronics, uses brake fluid to transmit force, and features a hydraulic backup braking system.

Bosch launched its brake-by-wire solution (BWA+ESP®), based on proven hydraulic technology, and completed its first public road test last month. This solution retains a hydraulic system, unlike EHB, which does not require brake fluid. Braking pressure is generated directly by an electric motor, rather than through hydraulics.
